SUPPORTING AND HONORING WOMEN LEADERS
RETURN THIS ENTRY FORM TO ONE OF THE TWO LOCATIONS LISTED ABOVE

The Herald Bulletin and Myers Autoworld have teamed up to sponsor the Athena Award, which honors community women who are successful in their careers and who inspire other young women to be successful in theirs.

Athena nominees can be from wide-reaching areas, to include Self-employed, Non-profit, Service, Education, and other business positions. The Award is not intended to be a contest between competing nominees, but recognition of the many contributions being made by outstanding women in our community.

To encourage people to nominate women of distinction, The Herald Bulletin and Myers Autoworld will reward the nominator as well as the nominee. If a nominator’s choice is selected for the award, we will donate $500 to a charity of the nominator’s choosing.

If the winner received nominations from more than one person or group, whichever nomination was turned in first will receive the $500 donation.

“We want this award to grow in stature,” said Mary Jamerson, president of Myers Autoworld. “There are outstanding women in our community whom I believe fly under the radar. This is a perfect opportunity to give them the attention and accolades they deserve.”

“The caliber of a community is determined by its people. This is one way to recognize the efforts of an outstanding Madison County leader who helps shape this generation and the next,” said Michael Casuscelli, publisher of The Herald Bulletin.

The Athena award is an international program sponsored by General Motors, National City Bank and Buchanan Ingersoll law firm. The Herald Bulletin and Myers Autoworld sponsor the award locally.

Nominations are due Oct. 20. The selection committee will meet Oct. 23 to reduce the nominations down to an even dozen.

Those 12 women will be featured in a special section of The Herald Bulletin, to be published Saturday, November 11.

The Athena winner will be announced at a special dinner Tues., Nov. 14. The $500 check also will be presented at that time to the winning nominator’s chosen charity.
