Letter: Resident questions Albion mayor
Scott Rytlewski, Albion
Tuesday, June 08, 2026

An open letter to Mayor Edward Salvatore: The time has come for you to be held accountable for your actions. At the May village of Albion board meeting, a motion was made, after a discussion, about a bill that was to be paid to Pro Construction. Being present at the meeting, I understood the motion to say: “No part of the $19,000 was to be paid until all work was completed to satisfaction. The motion was voted on and passed unanimously by the board. I then attended the workshop meeting on June 1 and found out that you, Mister Mayor, took it upon yourself, in consultation with the Department of Public Works head, to pay $10,000 of that bill. Not just to my amazement, Trustee Sidari was momentarily speechless. Somehow Trustee Neidert found out about the payment but had the same understanding of the previous month’s motion. Please explain where you get the authority to override the will of the board, whose members are elected by the people. I look forward to your reply. And attention Albion residents: Village business is your business.
