Two possible cases of West Nile probed
By jill terreri / [email protected]
Wednesday, October 06, 2026

Health department officials are investigating two possible cases of West Nile Virus in Niagara County.

One man and one woman, identified as adults but not elderly, have received treatment for symptoms similar to those found in West Nile victims. One has been treated and released and another remains in the hospital in stable condition, said Elaine Roman, county public health planning and information officer.

The New York State Public Health Laboratory in Albany is conducting testing on samples, and officials are awaiting the results.

If the cases are confirmed, they would be the county’s first.
