Racial slurs pop up in city and town
By Mark Lindsay / [email protected]
Saturday, October 09, 2026

Police and sheriff’s deputies are investigating separate incidents of racial graffiti in the city and Town of Lockport.

According to the report, Deputy Craig Beiter was called to the Rosewood Apartments on Wednesday night after someone had written racist and threatening statements on an outside wall of the building.

Statements such as “KKK Forever,” and racial epithets defaced the wall, Beiter said. The graffiti seemed to be directed at two specific apartments with African-American tenants. The statements also talked about bombs and warned the residents to watch out for their children.

In the city, the canal path was spray-painted with a racial slur underneath the Joseph Villella Memorial Bridge. Other offensive graffiti litters the underside of the bridge.

“I think it’s mostly by kids,” said Lockport Community Policing Aide Mark Sanders.

It amazes me that their is still racial hatred out there. We should all take a moment and pray for our brothers and sisters who are hurting so badly that they would try and inflict the same pain on others. I will pray for them. Whoever you are GOD LOVES YOU
