Lukenbill commended

Despite some rather obvious party-line politics, the Plymouth Common Council was able to weld a solutuon to the 2003 salary ordinance Monday night by passing what Mayor Jim Yeazel had proposed: A 3 percent across-the board raise.

Republican Ken Lukenbill changed his mind and aligned himself with Democrats Max Schuh and Michelle Livinghouse to pass the proposal on the third and final reading.

The time for gridlock has indeed ended when it comes to the pocketbook. A 3 percent raise will not break the town piggy bank. Now the Council can move ahead on more prime issues confronting the budget.

We commend Lukenbill.
