Triton Spikes Glenn

BOURBON Triton wasted no time clipping the John Glenn Falcons wings on Thursday night in volleyball. The Trojans jumped all over the Falcons in the first game and never let them get back up.
The Trojans were able to win the first game, 21-10. The Fal-cons responded with a little momentum, but the Trojans were able to recuperate and go on a tear that seemed to break the Falcons spirit.
Trojans head coach Gayle Perry said: We came out with momentum, but in the second game we seemed to let down a little and become lackadaisical.
The Trojans did indeed seem to become more complacent in the second game, seemingly content to exchange points with the Falcons. The Trojans were still able to win the game, 21-18.
We missed a few serves in the second, but the girls are still getting used to the longer score, Perry said.
This year in volleyball, rally scoring is in effect; the team returning a serve can score; before, only ther team with possession could score. This leads to a faster pace and more points being scored. The winne r must also take three-of-five games, instead of the best-of-three under the old rules.
The third game was a nightmare for the Falcons. The Trojans opened on a 9-1 tear from which the Falcons could never recover.
The dominant play of the Trojans enabled Perry to give some substitutes game time experience, something that she wants to see.
We did a better job with the subs tonight. Our starters reacted better tonight with them (subs), Perry explained. We hope to become a deep team. We want to win, but we want to work on depth as well.
The victory was a team effort, but the coach did have to give a few players extra credit. I thought Carly Feldman did a great job of hitting the ball tonight, Ashli Senff had a very good night all around, and Lena Miller did a great job with the serves.
The Trojans improve their record to 5-1, and next get set to travel to Tippecanoe Valley to play in the Manchester Tourn-ament on Saturday.
