BOURBON Ball Auction in Bourbon is having a special auction on Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Park Pavilion.

My husband and I are trying to adopt a little girl in Rio de Janeiro, Jane Spangle said. Its been a four-year process. We are having the auction to raise money for the expenses.

The Spangles already have one successful non-U.S. adoption. Their Nate Nathaniel Joseph Spangle came to them from Russia, the Black Sea area, in 1997.

It will take 45 days down there, she said. Andy has the time off, with Family Leave, but thats non-paid. So we need to pay for expenses. It comes to $1,500 a piece.

The auction will include donated items, household goods, . . . all kinds of things, Jane said.

We have farm tractor toys, a washer and dryer set, another dryer, sewing machines . . . People have been donating to us and were still accepting donations.

An international adoption agency based in Evansville is handling details. The paperwork must be submitted by January.

This process is a first for us, she said. The first time, with Nate, we went through the church.

Jane is 33, Andy is 32. Theyve been married a decade.

This would complete our family, she said.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the auction can contacting the Spangles at (574) 342-6106.
