Marshall Victim Assistance Administrator Quivey h

By Stacey Creasy

PLYMOUTH Marshall County Victim Assistance Administrator Cindy Qui-vey has been terminated.

The move, which was made by Marshall County Prosecutor Curt Palmer, has never been announced at a county meeting. The job opening has been advertised. Because the victim assistance department is under the prosecutors office, Palmer can make personnel changes without the approval of the Marshall County Commissioners.

It was an internal personnel mat-

ter, said Palmer. He did not want to comment further on the change.

Laura Mann, who has been with victims assistance for more than three years, is serving as the interim director.

Quiveys final day on the job was Tuesday.

All I know is I received an e-mail Tuesday telling me I am the interim director for now, Mann stated.

Quivey said: I cannot comment on any of this right now.

Quivey spent five years as a dispatcher and matron at the Marshall County Police Department before going to victims assistance where she served as administrator for four years and four months. She recently ran for the sheriffs office as a Democrat against Marshall County Sheriff Bob Ruff, but was defeated in the November election.

Mann said she is interested in the position. Prior to working for victims assistance, Mann also worked as a dispatcher/matron at the Marshall County Police Department.

If she is appointed Mann said she will continue to focus on education and awareness.

Education is the key, Mann added. If we can teach people about domestic violence, they will understand and we can stop it.

Palmer is taking resumes for the spot.

Ive received 30 resumes today, Palmer stated. I will take resumes until this weekend, go over them and hope to have somebody in place by the end of January.

A number of department heads have been removed recently. In addition to Quivey, maintenance supervisor Mike Rooney and Emergency Management Agency Director Norm Long were not reappointed for 2003.
