Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

Pilot News Staff Report

CULVER A Culver man was arrested Tuesday on drug charges during a traffic stop on 16th Road.

Evan B. Krieg, 20, was the passenger of a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old juvenile. Indiana State Police Trooper Jason Faulstich said he pulled the vehicle over on 16th Road about 10:50 p.m. because the driver was weaving and had no license plate light.

Faulstich said as he approached the pickup truck, he detected the odor of burning marijuana. Krieg and the juvenile was ordered to get out of the pickup. Units from Marshall County and Argos arrived to assist Faulstich. During a search the officers allegedly found marijuana on Krieg.

The officers then search the pickup. More marijuana and drug paraphernalia was discovered.

Faulstich arrested Krieg. The teen-ager was cited and released to a parent.

Krieg was taken to the jail where he was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Krieg was being held in the jail in lieu of a $250 cash bond.
