Bourbon Wrestler Pins National Award
MILWAUKEE -- For the second year in a row, the MSOE wrestling team received a national academic award for having the highest grade point average in the nation among all NCAA Division III wrestling teams.
MSOE received the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association Award during the national wrestling tournament in Ohio. The teams GPA was 3.57, outdistancing runner-up Olivet College, which had a 3.41 average.
"I am very proud of both the athletic and academic achievements of this team, head coach Kevin Morin said. We have proven that if you make a total commitment to both your academic and athletic pursuits, you can be successful in both areas. This team defines what it means to be true scholar-athletes and that is what MSOE wrestling is all about."
MSOE wrestlers Matt Huset and Matthew Schoenherr also were named for the second consecutive year to the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American Team.
To be considered for this award, candidates must meet both academic and athletic credentials.
