PLYMOUTH Going to doctors appointments or just going shopping may be a daily chore to the majority of us. But not everyone has the luxury of motorized transportation.
For those that do not have a vehicle, relying on the hospitality of others is essential.
That is where the Marshall County Older Adult Services comes in to help its clients.
The council has been running a pick-up and drop-off service Mobility in Motion for 15 years.
The route the council uses, driving to Argos from Ply-mouth on Tuesdays and Fridays, is subject to expansion.
Jackie Wright, director of the council, is willing to do more.
We are looking to expand our route to include traveling to Bourbon, Wright said. We are trying to highlight our out-of-town expansion work.
The goal of expansion stems from the fact the council re-ceived additional funding from the county to do so.
Besides the regular route, the council also makes personal arrangements whenever its needed. All it takes is a phone call to have a van outside your door, waiting to transport you to your doctor.
The council has four wheelchair-accessible vans.
The council could always use more volunteer drivers, Wright said, but the number of drivers is not a concern.
Weve been managing with the help we have, Wright said. We are more interested in people who need places to go and people using the service.
