LAKEVILLE Investigators from the St. Joseph County Police Department are searching for the lone gunman who allegedly held up the Key Bank in Lakeville Monday.

The suspect entered the bank, located at 222 S. Michigan St., about 12:47 p.m. The robber walked up to a teller, pointed a revolver at her and demanded all the money.

Witnesses at the bank said the robber handed the teller a clear plastic bag and told her to put the money in it. The teller complied with the request. The gunman then fled the bank on foot in the direction of South Michigan Street.

Even though the robber pointed the handgun at the teller, no one was injured during the hold-up.

The money also contained an explosive die pack. As police searched for the suspect, they discovered stained money and clothing a short time later on Maple Road, south of Osborne Road.

Witnesses described the suspect as a man who appeared to be in his 30s. He was armed with a black revolver. The man had a blonde mustache and hazel eyes. He was wearing a blue denim jacket, possibly a hooded style jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue denim pants and white tennis shoes.

Investigators got a good look at the robber through surveillance video cameras inside the bank. They obtained pictures of the suspect through the cameras.

Anyone with information regarding the bank robbery is urged to contact the St. Joseph County Police at 574-235-9611 or Crime Stoppers at 800-342-STOP.
