The United States Postal Service Transformation Plan calls for the organization to take one billion dollars in costs out of the system in each of the next five years. On the national level, Postal Service officials are working closely with Congress on a new business model that would replace its 30-year old operating structure. On the local level, operations have been analyzed and adjusted to better match the workload and revenue associated with the respective offices while maintaining retail access levels for its customers.
Finding ways to improve efficiency will enable us to meet customer expectations for service while driving costs out of our system, said Peg Rychuralski, Postmaster of the Bourbon Post Office. Keeping our operating costs as low as possible will allow us to maintain universal mail service at affordable rates for all Americans.
For customers who only need to purchase stamps, the Postal Service offers a variety of ways to buy stamps without making a trip to the post office.
You can order stamps by calling 1-888-ASL-USPS and requesting a Stamps by Mail form, or by asking your letter carrier to deliver the form to your address with your next mail delivery, said Linda Bell, Postmaster of the Etna Green Post Office.
You may also order stamps by phone by calling 1-800-STAMP24. And another alternative is stamps online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at www.usps.com
The postal service is going to do everything possible to streamline the operations in order to protect services to customers, not only today, but long into the future.
