PLYMOUTH - The City of Plymouth Fire Department is once again trying to keep children safe this year by distributing fire safety materials to Plymouth elementary students.

This is the 15th year of the program, designed to educate children about the dangers of playing with fire.

The department is hoping to distribute over 11,000 pieces of materials educating students on the stop, drop and roll technique, exit drills, smoke detectors, staying low during a fire, and other helpful tips. The books and pamphlets are different for each grade level.

The National Fire Safety Council, Inc. (NFSC), a federally tax-exempt charitable organization, creates and designs the pamphlets that the fire department needs.

The department is asking concerned business, industrial and professional leaders for their help in obtaining the booklets.

A sponsorship of 50 students costs $80, 75 students is $120, 100 students is $160, and a sponsorship of 200 students would cost $320. The department points out that the tax-deductible contribution would be used exclusively in our community.

In appreciation of the support given by donors, the donors name or business name will appear on a prestige page of the booklet.

All tax-deductible checks are to be made out to the National Fire Safety Council, Inc., and mailed directly to Fire Chief John Brown at the Plymouth Fire Department. The NFSCs Federal ID Number is 38-2292422.

Please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation for your time and consideration of this most worthwhile program for our youngsters, Brown said. With the help of your caring hand, we can keep out children safe from harm.
