PLYMOUTH The Surgery Department turned cookies into dollars recently in order to raise money for a new unit.

On May 22, the surgery department at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center-Plymouth held a bake sale and raffle to raise money for a special surgery project. More than 25 gifts were donated for the raffle.

The event was a success, raising $1,814.97.

So often were reaching out to the community for support, said Suzanne Risner, Director of Surgical Services, but this time it was our own employees showing their support of our surgery project. Risner noted that visitors on the 22nd were very generous as well.

Some of the big raffle winners included IB Armor winning a DVD player; a $25 Old Navy gift card was won by Karen Harris; Joan Hunt received a Walkman CD player, and Deb Traversa won SilverHawk tickets.
