A THS student enrolled in the lifeskills program through Intermediate Unit 6 in Clarion has completed a major artistic project.

According to art instructor Uriah Sampson, Danny Lytle has labored for months on the work, which is a reproduction of a Picasso painting. We took an original image (of the painting), put a grid over the top, enlarged the grid and produced 54 individual squares, Sampson said of the process. When placed together, Sampson explained, the squares formed a single image.

Lytle worked hard each day painting over the squares, Sampson said, as part of the Art 4 Group, an advanced, double period art class. It took almost a semester of work, said Sampson. Drawing and painting each day.

What seems like a heavy workload to some students comes easy to Lytle, who keeps busy during the class with whatever needs to be done. He not only has an interest in drawing and painting, but has his eye on producing works in pottery and jewelry.

Lytle receives assistance in his art projects from fellow students in the class, among them Vicky Andrako and John Urey.

Sampson said Lytle got involved with the course when he told his mother he wanted to do something with art. Sampson worked to get Lytle enrolled in the Art 4 Group, and the student is now enjoying his second year in the class. To top things off, Lytle has joined the schools art club.

There has been talk of framing Lytles work to be hung so that all students may enjoy it. If so, he also will be involved with measuring the painting and bunting the strips to the frame of the work.

Now that the Picasso painting is finished, Sampson said Lytle is looking toward tackling another major project a reproduction of a Georgia OKeefe painting.

When not involved with painting, drawing and other aspects of his work, Lytle spends time honing his skills on his PlayStation 2, going from one level to the next.
