from staff reports
Nasha McNeeley scored 23 points to power the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Lady Panthers to a 88-43 win over the CCAC-South Tigers Wednesday at J. Curtis McKinney Student Union.
The victory helped Pitt-Titusville (16-3) earn a first-round bye in the upcoming WPCC playoffs.
The Lady Panthers close out the regular season with a visit to Potomac State Saturday, followed by a make-up game versus CCAC Allegheny Monday.
n Pitt-Titusvilles mens team fared equally as well Wednesday with a 100-46 pasting of the Tigers.
Chastity Ingram had 17 points and Felicia Sonson added 15 for the Lady Panthers. Ingram also had a strong night on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds.
McNeely said the win was an overall team effort, but the team could have produced more on the offensive and defensive boards.
The Pitt men had a comfortable 13-point lead midway through the first half, but the Tigers made a late charge and got within six points before the half. The Panthers cruised in the second half.
Burger King player of the game was Brad Rizutto with 24 points, including four three-pointers. Other double-digit scorers for the Panthers were JR Conley with 22 and Jerad Giran and Jake Mechling with 17 each.
The players have worked hard all season, said coach Brian Vibey. They really deserved this win on our home court, as the last (home) game of the year.
