'Crazy for You at THS
by Tom Boyle

If youre crazy for great acting and great music, Titusville High School has a musical you will not want to miss.

Crazy for You, by brothers George and Ira Gershwin is this years THS performance and will feature some unforgettable songs from the famous duo.

Among them are I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, and Embraceable You. But the story line is another reason to catch the show.

According to Darcy Edwards, assistant director, the lead character is Bobby Child (Ben Kristobak) who wants to be on the stage. Working for his mothers bank, Bobby heads out west on an assignment foreclosing on a theater that has gotten itself in financial trouble.

Once in Dead Rock, Nev., Bobby finds himself falling in love with Polly Baker (Anna Stumpf), the only woman in town and whose father just happens to own the theater.

To impress Polly, Bobby impersonates theater big shot Bela Zangler (Joe Gates) director of Zanglers Follies. Bobby goes along with a plan to save the theater from ruin through raising the necessary money by having a Zangler-style performance in the small town.

Although Bobby gets some showgirls from back east to come all the way out west to perform in the show, only two people turn out for the performance and the whole scheme flops miserably. To make things worse, Polly finds out Bobby is an impostor.

But things right themselves when the real Zangler puts on a show to save the day and Polly realizes she is in love with Bobby. Although the two are headed in opposite directions Bobby to New York City to see her and Polly to Dead Rock to see him they manage to find each other in the end.

Along with the cast, local instrumentalists will provide the music for the performance under the direction of Lane Fortney.
