News of Troy Center
by Lois Seeley
Im glad that the daylight hours are a little longer. The weather is another story, though. One day you can sit out on the porch swing, and the next day the swings covered with a blanket of snow!
Some of the syrup makers in the area already have made their first run of maple syrup.
There are some weeks that I have a hard time finding something to write about. Lots of times, my brain works all night long. Ive been planting garden squash, tomatoes and gourds to give to Brandon to make a businessman out of him all this during my nights rest!
Prayer Concerns
This week, we remember in prayer Effie Firster of South Troy and Marge and Theodore Bunce as well as Mellie Lingo, for all the care shes given to her sister, Lucille and for bringing in my mail on days when theres no one else around. We pray also for everyone around the community who has had the flu. Ive heard that Mellie now isnt feeling well.
Community Night
Troy Center Church will have its monthly Community Night Tureen Dinner on March 5 at 6 p.m. Bring a tureen and dessert along with your place setting so we can enjoy some fellowship with one another.
Amish School
The children from the local Amish school got to enjoy a couple hours of sledding Friday afternoon on Center Road Hill. This was always enjoyed by children of the community years ago, but it seems that todays children would rather watch a video or play with modern, high-tech toys.
March
March is a month to look forward to! Will it come in like a lion or a lamb? Then, right after St. Patricks Day, spring arrives! Good Friday and Easter Sunday come soon thereafter. Its maple syrup making time. Well have wind and rain, but summer days are on the way!
About Children
Children need guidance, and caring parents should think about taking them to Sunday school and church. Also, children need to be told how good they are. Try not to criticize them, but lead them in the right direction and pray with them. The book of Proverbs in the Bible gives us this promise (and this is my version): Bring up a child in the way he or she should go; when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Condolences
We extend our sympathy to the Raymond Jones family on the loss of their son, Brian. Brian had been ill for the past year. Our sympathy also goes to Brians wife, Amy, and their children.
