CHERRYTREE TOWNSHIP, Venango County Township supervisors will hold a public meeting to receive comments and input on the revised draft of a proposed zoning ordinance and map.
The material has been prepared by the EADS Group, supervisors reported during a regular meeting Monday night.
The public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at Cherrytree Elementary School. Secretary-Treasurer Jan Kilner said the meeting will be advertised twice in the newspaper.
Beginning next week, the proposal will be available at the township office during business hours for any members of the public who would like to view it.
The supervisors said the March 30 meeting will be informational. The map will be on view and definitions of the zones will be explained.
It was reported that Titusville Planning Commission which is working to update the citys zoning ordinances has requested to view a copy of the townships proposal so the plans can be compatible.
The EADS Group, it was noted, has added suggestions made by the Titusville Airport Authority. Supervisor Chairman Roger Patterson said the supervisors have received an invitation to attend the authority meetings. He said he is planning to attend.
The supervisors hope to have the township planning commission back up to full membership before work on the zoning proposal continues.
In administrative action during the meeting, the supervisors signed a consent for the transfer of the cable franchise in the township from Cebridge Connections to Armstrong. Kilner said the township receives 5 percent of the gross through the franchise.
The supervisors also took action to appoint Colleen Martin of the Slippery Rock area as the townships new sewage enforcement officer. A resolution to appoint an SEO had been tabled during the supervisors reorganization meeting in January because it was not certain whether SEO Mike Klink would be able to continue in the job. It was since learned he had accepted a new position and would not be able to handle cases in the township.
Martin was interviewed by the supervisors last month, and Patterson said her knowledge is first class.
Robert Nelson presented the monthly report from Cherrytree Township Volunteer Fire Department. He said the department answered 26 calls last month 12 of them to Country Acres bringing the total for the year to date to 49.
Supervisor Jeff Langworthy reported on last weeks meeting of the Oil Creek Area Council of Governments. He said positive feedback was reported by the municipalities in response to a proposal by Titusville Police Department. The department has suggested intermunicipal agreements which would allow officers to enter participating municipalities for specific drug investigations. Langworthy said there would be no costs to the municipalities and the department would not be involved in any routine patrols.
He said Karen Rios of Allegheny Township is working with Titusville Police Chief Don Owens to find a sample agreement. He said it is hoped the agreements can be in place by mid-summer or early fall.
Supervisor and Roadmaster Joe Ziemba said the townships winter road supplies are holding out. He said the crew is filling holes as weather permits. Ziemba and Patterson have attended road maintenance classes and hope to apply some techniques they have learned in the future.
A representative of Belden and Blake attended the meeting to inquire about requirements for a building permit to construct a structure around a compressor which will be installed in the near future in the township. The structure will be 12 by 16 feet. Its purpose is solely to reduce sound from the compressor so the company hopes it can be exempt from industrial building requirements. Kilner will check with the code enforcement firm.
