Quilt Show is planned for Friday and Saturday

The Contented Heart Quilt Guild will host the "Quilt Show of the Little

Mountains" on Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2. The show will

be held at the ASPIRE Center, and visitors are welcome to come by and see

the beautiful quilts from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The theme for this year's show is "Something Old, Something New." The

show will feature an exhibit of antique quilts. Those who attend will also

get to see a wide variety of designs and techniques including hand quilted,

appliqued, traditional pieced, pictorial, machine quilted and hand

embellished.

Quilts will be juried and judged with cash prizes totaling $2,285.

Also on display will be the Block Contest entries which have been

received from all over the state and even as far away as Tennessee and

Georgia. Each block is a different basket pattern, reflecting the artist's

own special design.

Other events include demonstrations of hand quilting, and vendors will

be on hand with hard to find notions, as well as fabric and other items. A

hand pieced quilt will be given away at 5 p.m. Saturday.
