Cordell, George 57 Mr. George Edward Cordell, age 57 of Somerset, formerly of Pine Knot, passed away on Tuesday at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Funeral services were held on Friday August 27, 2026 in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company with Rev. Daniel T. Netting officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery. He was born in Pine Knot on September 4, 2026 to the late Irene Spencer and George Atlee Cordell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, James Lewis (Jimmy) Cordell and twin sisters, Anita and Alicia Cordell. He married Bonnie Lou Brooks in Jellico, Tennessee on January 7, 1983. His wife survives and resides in Somerset. Other survivors include 2 step sons, Christopher Ryan and Jonathan Parmelee. One brother, Dr. Alan Cordell and his wife Diane of Cincinnati, Ohio, and 2 sisters, Diane C. Witherspoon of Lexington and Linda C. Griffin and her husband Ed of Roanoke, VA. He has many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss his loving care. Mr. Cordell was a member of the Somerset First Christian Church. He was a Therapist for The Adanta Group working primarily with Vietnam Veterans. He served in Vietnam with the United States Air Force for 3 years and after he returned, he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, and began his journey working with his fellow veterans in their care and cause.
