Shannon Garland of Pine Knot jailed in death of Letcher woman
By JANIE SLAVEN
Record Staff Writer

WHITESBURG A McCreary County native has been charged with murder in another county.
Shannon Garland, 29 and formerly of Pine Knot, has been charged with murder, kidnapping, robbery and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of a Letcher County woman.
Lisa Jenkins, 39, of Partridge was reported missing to Letcher County authorities on March 23. The 1988 Ford Tempo Jenkins was driving was found abandoned later that afternoon on Little Shepherd Trail, near a newly created entrance from US 119.
Her body was discovered March 28 just over a mile from where her car was abandoned, partially buried some 15 feet over a bank along a popular hiking trail on Pine Mountain near Whitesburg. Jenkins, a mother of five, was last seen alive on the morning of March 22, when she left her home to give a friend a ride to the bank.
On the same morning that Jenkins body was found, Garland was in McCreary Circuit Court regarding to a civil case. He was arrested back in Letcher County without incident and charged on March 30.
Garlands reported girlfriend and Jenkins friend 32-year-old Rosemary Fields McClain of Ovenfork was arrested two days later on April 1 and has been charged with conspiring complicity in the crime.
Jenkins is believed to have been killed at the home Garland and McClain shared. She had been stabbed at least four times.<

No one thought Ted Bundy could kill either! We have alot of cold cases of murder"someone is killing people"I don't think the commonwealth would jail this man if they didn't have some evidance linking him to something...

Maybe he didn't do it,just have to hear his side.

Didn't know 2 judge (4/27/2005)
Just because he was in jail a couple of times does not mean he was not a good guy he has a good person and never would let anyone go with out he took verry good care of his kids still don't think he did it.

Curious, The fact is it did not happen in your county, and your NewsPaper needed something to put on the front page. This person is a good person, better than most. Let a judge and a jury convict people, instead of uneducated people. You and most in this county are quick to judge, and most of the time wrong.

DiDN"T KNOW TO JUDGE (4/20/2005)
Thats why people get to many stories going in McCreary herd things never went to source.

Curious (4/19/2005)
I have heard a lot of things about him, none of which were good.

He was a nice guy? (4/18/2005)
