Record moves to Stephens Building on Main Street
By JANIE SLAVEN
Record Staff Report

WHITLEY CITY Last Wednesdayjust in time for the new yearThe McCreary County Record opened in its new offices in the Robert Stephens Building on Main Street across from McCreary County Courthouse in Whitley City.
Our new offices are located in same building formerly occupied by Cook Grocery and located between Agness Fabric Shop and the former Kentucky Utilities office. Over the past year, the building has been completely renovated to accommodate our needs
With the continued growth of The Record, we simply outgrew our old offices, said Editor Ken Shmid-heiser. But we will certainly miss having Rueben and Gladys Hicks as our immediate neighbors.
Since its first publication in November 1919, The McCreary County Record has called four locations home. The newspaper was started by the Bell Press of Oneida, Tennessee, in above what was the Stearns poolroom. After some 50 years, the office was moved to Courthouse Square in downtown Whitley City in what is now the Hatfield-Lavender law office.
After a fire damaged that building, the Records staff moved a few doors up the square beside Rueben Hicks law office. That temporary fix lasted more than 17 years, until our continued expansion dictated this latest move.
We invite all our readers and advertisers to visit us at our new, convenient location in the heart of downtown Whitley City.
